Gynaecological Surgeries

Gynaecological surgeries refer to a range of surgical procedures performed on the female reproductive system, such as the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and cervix. Some common indications include treating reproductive disorders, removing abnormal growths or tumours,  and alleviating symptoms associated with conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, or pelvic organ prolapse. I do both laparotomy (open surgery) and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeries depending on patients' conditions. The following are common procedures and surgeries I  perform:

Cystectomy

This is a surgery to remove a cyst/cysts from the ovary. This can be done with open surgery or laparoscopically.

Myomectomy

This is a surgery to remove fibroids from the uterus. This can be done with open surgery or laparoscopically

Hysterectomy

This is a surgery to remove the uterus. If indicated, removal of the ovaries will be done too, and this is called hysterectomy with bilateral salpingoophorectomy.

Hysteroscopy

This is done to examine the cervix and the inside of the uterus. Submucosal fibroids or uterine polyps can be removed in the same setting - therapeutic hysteroscopy .

Colposcopy and cervical biopsy

This is a procedure to closely examine the the cervix using a colposcope. If an unusual area of cells found during procedure, a tissue biopsy will be taken.

Marsupialisation

This is a minor surgery to treat Bartholin's Abscess.

Those mentioned are the more common gynaecological surgeries/procedures. Other procedures include dilatation and curettage (D&C) examination under anaesthesia (EUA),  LEEP/LLETZ, incision and drainage and many more.
